About This Service
Every food business operator in India, from a home kitchen to a manufacturing plant, must hold a valid FSSAI licence or registration. The category depends on annual turnover. Following the Food Safety and Standards Amendment Regulations notified in March 2026 and effective from 1 April 2026, Basic Registration now covers turnover up to ₹1.5 crore, a State Licence covers ₹1.5 crore to ₹50 crore, and a Central Licence applies above ₹50 crore as well as to importers, exporters, and businesses operating across multiple states. This revision moved a large number of small vendors and home-based businesses into the simpler and cheaper Basic Registration category.
