Is a registered pharmacist required?

Yes for a retail licence — a pharmacist registered with the State Pharmacy Council must be present during business hours. For a wholesale licence, either a registered pharmacist or a graduate with four years of experience dealing in drugs is acceptable.

What is the minimum premises area?

Generally 10 square metres for a retail or wholesale licence separately, and 15 square metres where both are operated from the same premises. Requirements can vary slightly by state.

How long is the licence valid?
